<br />103 - Cush;nan silt loan, 3 to 10 percent slopes. <br />The Cushman soil is moderately leap, and well-drained. It developed Eton <br />locally d-rived calcareous alluvium on relatively small upland fans. Sma11 araas <br />of calcareous Potts soil and shallow, loamy Torriorthents 'were included in <br />mapping. Potts soils are deep. The 'Torriorthents soils are shallow and lack <br />argillic horizons. These soils occupy about 10 percent Bach of the mapping unit. <br />Tn a typical profile, the surface and upper subsoil layer is light yellowish <br />brown silt loam about 9 inches thick. Tha argillic horizon is brownish yellow <br />silty clay loam about 11 inches thick. Tha lower subsoil is light yellowish brown <br />calcareous silty clay loam about 6 inches thick and is underlain with vary pals <br />brown calcareous silty clay loam to a depth of 34 inches. <br />Tha Cushman soil has :nodarate permeability and rnadiu:n runoff. 'The erosion <br />• hazard is moderate from wind and water. Available waterholding capacity is <br />moderately high to high. Effective rooting depth is 20 to 40 inches. <br />This soil is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. Tha vegetation <br />is primarily big sagebrush and mixed p~rannial grasses. So:na south-facing araas <br />have dense chaatgrass. <br />'The average depth of suitable topsoil malarial is 35 inches. This material <br />is rated fair to good with suitability decreasing with depth. <br />• <br />
