<br />102 - Haverson loam, alkali phase, 0 to 3 percent slopes. <br />The Haverson, alkali soil is deep, saline and sodic, and well-drained. It <br />developed from mixed, calcareous, saline and sodic alluvium on drainage bottoms <br />and floodplains. Small areas of Colorow soils were included in napping. Colorow <br />soils are nonalkali. These soils occupy less than 10 percent of the unit. <br />In a typical profile, the surface layer is pale bro•.an loan about 3 inches <br />thick. The subsurface soil is pale brown sodic gravelly loan about 5 inches thicK. <br />Tne substratum is pals brown sodic loam about 12 inches thick and is underlain <br />with saline and sodic pale brown calcareous alluvium at a depth of about 3 fret. <br />The Havsrson, alkali soil has .moderate permeability and mediwn runoff. fhe <br />erosion hazard is moderate from wind and water. Available waterholding capacity <br />is lou to moderate. Effective rooting depth is 40 to 00 inches with deeper rooting <br />• greasewood. <br />This soil is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. Tha vegetation <br />is primarily greasewood, big sagebrush and .nixed perennial grasses and <br />cheatgr.ass. <br />This unit is not recommended as a source of topsoil due to high sodiwn and <br />total salt levels near the surface. <br /> <br />
