105 - Colorow-Haverson, alkali complsx, 0 to 3 percent slopes.
This complex occurs on lo•w floodplains and along drainages primarily mapped
in Scullion Gulch and developed from mix ad stratified calcareous alluvium with
sodic spots on drainage bottoms and floodplains. It is comprised of about 50
percent Colorow soils and 40 percent Haverson, alkali soils. S;nall areas of
Colorow, alkali soils were included in mapping. Colorow, alkali soils are like
typical Colorow soils except with sodium concentrations near th•~ surface. These
included soils occupy about 10 percent of the unit.
fhe Colorow soil is undeveloped, deep, and well-drained. In a typical
profile, the surface Byer is pale brown loan about 5 inches thick. Tne
subsurface soil is light yellowish brown loan about 11 inches thick. fhe
substratum is light gray silt loam to loam about 24 inches thick and is underlain
• with pale brown calcareous gravelly sandy loan to a depth of 40 to 60+ inches.
The Colorow soil has moderately rapid permeability and medium to slow runoff.
The erosion hazard is moderate from wind and water. Available waterholding
capacity is moderately high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more.
The Haverson, alkali soil is deep, saline and sodic, and well-drained. In
a typical profile, the surface layer is pale brown loam about 3 inches thick.
fhe subsurface soil is pale brown sodic gravelly loan about ~ inches thick. Tha
substratum is pale brown sodic loan about 12 inchss thick and is underlain with
Salina and sodic pale brown calcareous alluvium at a depth of about 20 inches.
The Haverson, alkali soil has moderate permeability and medium runoff. 'f he
erosion hazard is moderate from wind and water. Available uaterholding capacity
is low to noderata. Effective rooting depth is 40 to 60 inches with deeper rooting
. greasewood.
