furrowed. Flow is filtered by established vegetation.
- Access Road Strip - includes some 1.0 acre of 1986 seeding west of
the approved permanent access road to a stock pond. Approximately
60 percent of the drainage from this parcel drains to a low area
adjacent to the road, with no opportunity for positive drainage
from that point. The remaining 40~ flows to the north along the
access road, and would be controlled by a rock filter.
- Office Area Seeding - includes some 2.0 Acres on the floodplain
immediately adjacent to the Middle Creek Office building. Due to
a combination of slope (less than 2$), vegetative cover, and the
parcels position in relation to the floodplain, CYCC feels that
the current vegetative filter is sufficient in conjunction with the
existing perimeter Swale and depression which collects flow from
the area.
- .Ditch H-1 Area - includes some 2.0 acres immediately below Ditch H-
1. Due to the combination of slope, vegetation along the border
acting as a filter, and coarse surface fragments, CYCC feels that
the current vegetative filter is sufficient, Samples collected
during a precipitation event indicate that this is indeed the case.
The locations of the referenced small area exemptions are shown on
accompanying Mine 3 Stormwater Management Plan Map for CDPS Permit COG-
850013 and NPDES Permit CO-0027154.
c) DEMONSTRATION AREAS
There are three Demonstration Areas associated with the C-81-071 Permit,
all of which are located on Mine No. 2.
The first, Demonstration Area A, was previously approved when CMLRD
approved the elimination of ponds Q, R and S on September 14, 1984.
This approval was based upon vegetative cover and water sampling data.
Demonstration Area B consists of approximately 70 acres of reclamation
which is due for final bond release. Vegetative cover on both parcels
involved is greater than that of the pasture reference area.
Demonstration Area C consists of some 15 acres below the outslope of
Ditch M-1, which is again due for final bond release. Vegetative cover
on the area involved is greater than that of the pasture reference area.
The locations of these three demonstration areas are shown on the
Stormwater Management Plan Map for NPDES Permit CO-0027154.
In addition, there is a demonstration area associated with the southern
portion of Mine 3 (CDOMG Permit C-84-062).
Page 8
