Borehole ponds, and it will be treated by the gravel filters
located in the ditch.
- Sandstones Power Substation
Sediment Control for this area (less than one acre) will be
comprised of a perimeter containment berm/temporary diversion
ditch and gravel filter(s).
Given that the areas are situated in locations which prevent
drainage from reaching sedimentation ponds, they have been
demonstrated to qualify for small area exemptions. All of the
sites treat drainage by one or more of the following: good
vegetation, silt fences, shallow sloped, rock check dams, berms,
sumps, or stock water ponds.
The previously listed small area exemptions are shown on the the
accompanying Stormwater Management Plan Map for NPDES Permit CO-
0027154, and reflects exemptions approved under both CDMG Permit C-
81-071 and C-82-056, due to the high degree of overlap present
within the permit.
In addition to the above-listed exemptions associated with outfalls
001-009, 016, and 017, outfall 010 (serving the south portion of
the CYCC Mine No. 3 operation) has a number of exemptions
associated with it.
These are described below:
- M3S Access Area - includes some 4 acres of disturbance
adjacent to the intersection of County Roads 179 and 33. Flow from
this area travels through a diversion to a culvert leading to a
rock filter.
- Homestead Ditch Exemption One - includes 16.8 acres of 1983
seeding upslope of the Homestead Irrigation Ditch. The area was
seeded with fast-establishing grasses, and was contour furrowed.
- Middle Creek Office Area - includes 2.0 acres surrounding the
Middle Creek Office consisting primarily of driveway, storage, and
parking areas. Flow from this area is collected by a ditch around
the perimeter of the exemption, and is channeled to a rock filter
and oil boom before entering Middle Creek.
- Middle Creek Office Topsoil Stockpile - includes some 0.5 acres
approximately 500 feet southwest of the Middle Creek Office
exemption. The combination of slope, vegetative cover, and
negative drainage preclude sediment reaching Foidel Creek.
- Homestead Ditch Exemption Two - Includes some 25 acres of 1986
seeding upslope of the Homestead Irrigation Ditch. The area was
seeded with fast establishing grasses, ripped, and contour
Page 7
