' Bear Coal Company
Stormwater Management Plan
Page 3 '
'
2 ) Unpaved road and disturbed areas on site will be
watered or treated with chemical palliatives.
' Speeds are limited to 15 mph on all roads.
3) Vegetation will be the primary sediment control
feature for stormwater runoff from the sediment
pond and topsoil pile outslopes. If rills occur on
the slopes they will be repaired. Vegetation will
be reseeded and mulched if necessary.

4) Sediment must be periodically removed from the
sediment control structure.
' d. Good Housekeeping: The good housekeeping requirement for
this plan consists of performing the required preventive
maintenance as follows: 1) maintaining the sediment
control structure; and 2) maintaining water sprays and
surface moisture in the coal stockpiles and plant roads.
' e. Spill Prevention and Response Procedures: There are no
areas where potential spills could occur outside of the
portion of the operation that contributes runoff to areas
' subject to effluent limitation guidelines.
f. Best Management Practices:
1) There are no areas where stormwater needs to be
diverted away from material handling and storage
areas to prevent stormwater contamination.
'
2) Materials handling and spill prevention practices
are not required because there are no areas where
potential spills could occur that would contribute
pollutants to stormwater runoff.
3) Sediment and erosion prevention is required in two
' types of areas. The two areas include the haul
road drainage and the drainage from the outslopes
of the ponds and topsoil pile.
' The haul road drainage ditch collects runoff from
the road and from drainage areas adjacent to the
' road. A ditch turnout is located where the ditch
exits the haul road an discharges down a bank and
into the North Fork of the Gunnison River. The
ditch turnout directs the stormwater flow from the
' haul road drainage ditch into a sediment fence,
straw bale check dam or other similar structure.
;1
~'
