3.1.6 General Requirements
None of the items mentioned apply to this project.
3.1.7 Groundwater -Specific Requirements
As explained throughout the application, the excavation will encounter groundwater and a lake will
be the final product of reclamation. A well permit and an augmentation plan has been prepared for
the applicant by Steve Nguyen, Project Engineer, of Tuttle-Applegate, Inc. These are being
submitted under separate cover for use in Exhibit G -Water Information and will constitute the
specific groundwater requirements for this project.
3.1.8 Wildlife
(1) The operator will consider the safety and protection of wildlife on site - if any.
No described critical periods or species aze known for this site. The Division of Wildlife has some
concerns about disturbance to the river corridor and old growth cottonwood trees. The river corridor
will not be disturbed by this operation, and there aze few, if any, old growth trees in the project area.
(2) Habitat management is not part of [he reclamation plan for this project.
3.1.9 Topsoiling
(1) Topsoil will be stockpiled on the pit perimeters for replacement in the reclamation phase. If
stockpiles are [o remain in place for longer than one year, they will be treated with SCS
recommended seed.
(2) There is little to no woody vegetation to be affected. The area has been primarily farmland and
river bottom pasture.
(3) Stockpiles will be configured to minimize erosion and located in areas where disturbances by
ongoing mining operations will be minimized. As stated in (1) above, if necessary, stockpiles will
be seeded for the purpose of stabilization.
(4) It is planned to locate topsoil stockpiles so material will only have to be handled one time. No
relocation of topsoil is proposed.
(5) Replaced topsoil on proposed lake banks will be treated so as to prevent any slippage zones.
(6) It is [he applicant's opinion that topsoil present on site is adequate, evidenced by the fact [hat it
has been used successfully as irrigated farmland and river bottom grass pasture. It is felt that there
are no more suitable materials on site for reclamation.
E-4
