Mr. Allen Sorenson Page 3 of 3 <br />February 9, 2~1 <br />Dissolution Surface Conductivity, Temperature, and Pressure Probes <br />At this time American Soda continues to collect monthly samples from two of the three <br />dissolution surface wells (Well 29-4D and Well 21-3D). The conductivity, temperature, and <br />pressure probes installed in two of the dissolution surface wells (29~1D and 21~DX) have now <br />both been removed due to failure and equipment malfunction. Manual water level <br />measurements for all dissolution surface wells are collected three times per week. Two of the <br />dissolution surface wells have continually been sampled (21-3D using a dedicated pump and 29- <br />4D using a bailer] and the third will be re-added to the sampling list (21-4DX by bailer] now that <br />the malfunctioning probe has successfully been removed from the casing. <br />American Soda is working with the Scotland manufacturer of the specialized probes to resolve <br />the complications experienced with the probes we have already attempted to use in the wells. <br />In the interim, we have ordered data logger probes from an American manufacture that are <br />designed to monitor the pressure at the water surface. The complications of small well <br />diameter, high conductivity levels, extensive depth and remote location have all been significant <br />factors in the continued failure of the specialized probes. American Soda's current goal <br />regarding these probes is to install a less involved design that excludes the ability to monitor <br />conductivity. The Scotland manufacturer is preparing one probe for our trial use with a slightly <br />different design to monitor only temperature and pressure at depth.
