Pursuant to Rule 6.4.7(21(c-, please provide additional details for the proposed <br />gravity drain pipe to be utilized for pit dewatering, including the pipe diameter, <br />capacity and potential for erosion at the pipe outlet. Please provide similar data for <br />the proposed surface laid pipe for pit dewatering. <br />16. Please clarify whether the applicant has, or has not, obtained a CDPS stormwater <br />permit for the proposed operation. If the applicant has applied for a stormwater <br />permit but has not yet obtained a stormwater permit, please correct the statement <br />on page 25 of the application. <br />The applicant has submitted copy of an application for a CDPS stormwater permit, <br />signed on March 12, 2001, which indicates that the operation will discharge <br />processing water and pit dewatering to the Dolores River. <br />17. Please provide the information required by Rule 6.4.7(5-. <br />18. Please clarify why elk and beaver were not included in Exhibit H -Wildlife <br />Information, of the application. <br />The operator has submitted copy of correspondence from DOW, dated November <br />8, 2000, which indicates that some elk have passed through the area previously. <br />19. Please provide a description of the general effect during and after the proposed <br />operation on the existing wildlife of the area, including interference with migratory <br />routes, and the general effect on the wildlife from increased human activity, <br />including noise, as required by Rule 6.4.811-Id-. <br />20. It appears that mining excavations will expose groundwater. If this is the case, a <br />well permit for evaporative loss and use of groundwater, and an augmentation plan <br />or substitute water supply plan will be required from the Division of Water <br />Resources of the Office of State Engineer. Additionally, Exhibit M -Other Permits <br />and Licenses, will need to be revised to clearly state that a well permit, for <br />exposure and use of groundwater, and an augmentation plan or substitute water <br />supply plan will be acquired from DWR. <br />Please revise Exhibit M to clearly state that discharge of process water and pit <br />dewatering will be permitted under the CDPS stormwater permit through WOCD. <br />5 <br />
