STIPULATION N0. 5
Bear Coal Company shall continue to monitor the three North Fork
alluvial wells to monitor the effects of mining on alluvial ground
water. This monitoring shall include monthly monitoring of ground water
levels, pH, temperature and electro-conductivity. On a quarterly basis,
ground water quality analyses shall be run on samples collected from
these alluvial wells. The water quality samples shall be analyzed for
those parameters in Attachment 2 of this document. All data shall be
submitted to the Division within one month of the date of collection.
The Division may reduce this frequency of analysis, the number of
parameters analyzed, and number of wells monitored upon completion of
one year's collection of data.
STATUS
Bear Coal agreed to undertake monthly and quarterly analysis of the
shallow ground water wells. Response dated May 27, 1982.
• The information collected will be evaluated and incorporated in the
annual hydrologic report submitted yearly. (See Stipulation No. 6).
Subsequent to this response, Bear Coal Company has submitted a technical
revision to reduce the frequency of monitoring. This technical revision
can be found in Exhibit 23.
STIPULATION N0. 6
The permittee will submit to the Division an annual hydrologic report.
This report shall include an analysis of all hydrologic data gathered
during the year, an assessment of the impacts of mining during the year,
and an assessment of the projected impacts of mining in the following
year. This report shall assess the impacts of mining on the quality and
quantity of water in surface streams, springs, ground water aquifers,
mine inflow, and mine discharges.
• STATUS
Bear Coal agrees to submit an annual hydrologic report, due August,
1982. Response dated July 8, 1982.
-3-
