A surface vehicle fueling station is located across from the Administration Building in the
equipment storage yard. One 10,000 gallon unleaded gasoline above-ground tank and one
40,000 gallon diesel above-ground tank are at this location. The area is diked with an
earthen berm large enough to contain any leaks or spills. A concrete pad encloses the fuel
pump area adjacent to the tanks.
Diesel, gasoline and oil are delivered to Deserado Mine on an as need basis by contract.
A Blue Mountain Energy Lubrication Truck is used to deliver fuel and lubricants to
remote locations on the mine site. This vehicle has a Colorado Hazardous Materials
Permit to transport limited quantities at a time. (See Appendix B).
4. The
product is pumped from the barrels into the system on a rotation basis.
HYDROCHLORIC ACID (35.2% in water solution) is stored outside the water treatment
plant bui]ding in a 2,000 gallon fiberglass above-ground tank with a concrete containment
enclosure sufficient to hold the entire tank content. [t is used as the final
disinfectant of affluent.
COAL PREPARATION PLANT BUILDING
This building houses two steel tanks containing flocculent products; NALCO 8815 and
8856. These products are used for separation of fine coal in clean coal processing. They
are located on the bottom floor on concrete floors with concrete sumps to prevent
drainage to the outside of the building. A concrete sump catches all washdown materials
within the building and can pump the material to the Raw Coal thickener for additional
6
