STORAGE LOCATIONS
All flammable liquids are stored in approved steel tanks.
Fixed above-ground storage tanks aze surrounded by dikes or comainmem structures
constructed to be structurally sound and deep enough to contain the entire contents of the
largest single tank plus precipitation. The bottom and sides of the containment structures
are impervious.
Mobile portable-type storage tanks, where possible, will be positioned to prevent any
spilled product from reaching bodies of water. Ifthis is not possible, precautionary
measures will be taken to insure such tanks are protected against accidental collision
damage or other conditions that may cause leakage or spills.
All drums containing oils, when not in use will be confined to a specific location. In
storage, the drums will be kept securely stacked in a safe and orderly manner. The drum
storage area will comply with the National Fire Protection Code No. 30, "Flammable and
Combustible Liquids".
All storage facilities are located and secured to prevent flooding, washout, or avalanches.
All employees required to operate the oil storage facilities will be instructed to make daily
observations of the outside of these facilities for signs of deterioration and leaks that may
cause spills, or accumulations of oil within the diked azea.
All non-integral storage tanks for heating units, machinery or other equipment which
exceed 660 gallons in capacity, or an aggregate number of said tanks that exceed 1320
gallons will be surrounded by an impervious dike constructed similar to that required for
above-ground storage tanks.
A Monarch oil flow through water treatment oil separator tank (500 gallons capacity)
used for show washdown is located next to the Railroad Maintenance Building. Waste oil
from this tank is used in the waste oil heating units.
Four above ground storage tanks are located at the East Portal Area, these contain;
1. Emulsion oil (10,000 gallons)
2. Diesel fuel (40,000 gallons)
3. Hydraulic oil (1,200 gallons)
4. Dust suppression liquid (5,000 gallons)
See Map 86 for locations. All tanks are located on concrete pads with concrete
containment walls to isolate leaks or spills.
