From THE UULCAN RANCH CO ~ PHONE No. 303 984 3601 ~ Dec. 09 1994 12:49PM P06
-3-
Lions based on the proposed construction and the subsurface
conditions encou ntered. Hydrologic conditions which may impact
the construction are heyond the scope of this report.
PROPASF.tI c:GNSTRl1CT1AN
Specific design information for the dewatering structure was
not available at the time of this study. 41e understand the
dewatering structure will be steel-frame about 65 feet high and
used to process coal which will be mined by tha hydraulic
method. The lower floor of the structure will bo slab-on-grade
Haar elevation 5760 feet. Cut depth of about 5 to 15 feet with
respect to natural ~rounci surface is proposed. The structure
will have some vibrational loading duo to shaking in the coal
processing. Column loads are expected to range to a maximum of
about 300 kips as provided by Wastar. Column bays in the struo-
tune ui].1 be on about 17 feet centers.
The thickener will consist of a steel tank about 32 feet in
diameter and about 16 feet tall and boated near the dewatering
structw-e as shown on Fig. 1. Grading in the Lhicki:ner area will
be similar to ehc dewatering structure area with cut to a maximum
of about 20 feet below existing ground surface.
The grading plan for the site indicates extensive cutting and
filling will be needed to develop roadways, laydown, coal storage
and parking lot areas, A sedSmenL•ation pond will also be con-
structed near tl~e bottom of the disturbed arcs. Maximum planned
cut depths will be about 35 feet and maximum fill depths will be
about 25 feet with respect to existing ground surface. Craded

Chen & Associates
