4.18 (4) Each person who conducts surface coal mining operations, to the <br />. extent possible using the best technology currently available, shall: <br />4.18 (4)(a) Locate and operate roads so as to avoid or minimize impacts <br />to fish and wildlife species. <br />RESPONSE <br />' H-G Coal Company will locate, plan and operate roads so as to <br />avoid or minimize unpacts to fish and wildlife species. <br />4.18 (4) (b) Eence roadways where specified by the Division to guide <br />locally important wildlife to roadway under passes. No new <br />barriers shall be created in known and important wildlife <br />migration routes as identified by the State; _ <br />RESPONSE - <br />' No new barriers to wildlife have or will be created in the permit =: <br />area. <br />4.18 (4)(c) Eence, cover or use other appropriate methods to exclude <br />wildlife from ponds which contain hazardous concentrations <br />of toxicforming materials. <br />• RESPONSE <br />Ponds found to have hazardous concentrations of toxicforming <br />' materials will be fenced to exclude wildlife. <br />4.18 (4)(d) Restore, enhance where practicable, or avoid disturbance <br />to habitats of unusually high value for fish and wildlife as <br />identified by the State; <br />RESPONSE <br />H-G Coal Company where possible, will avoid disturbance to <br />habitats of unusually high value for fish and wildlife as identi- <br />fied by the State. <br />4.18 (4)(e) Restore, enhance where practicable, or maintain natural rip- <br />arian vegetation on the banks of streams, lakes, and other <br />wetland areas; <br />RESPONSE <br />According to the baseline vegetation and wildlife information no <br />• natural riparian habitat will be disturbed in the permit area. <br />
