REVIEW QUESTION
2.05.6
(3)(b) 3. The applicant should provide a narrative on how it is intended
to reestablish seepage area SP-4.
RESPONSE
Spring SP-4 is a natural discharge point for the upper coal
aquifer where the aquifer intersects Hayden Gulch. The spring
will temporarily be dried up due to the mining process and pit
dewatering. As the mining and backfilling processes advance
through final reclamation, the spring will began to flow once
the backfill resaturates to an elevation above the spring dis-
charge point. The time it will take for the spring to began
flowing again has been calculated and is presented in the final
groundwater report (contained in Appendum A of Appendix R in
' Yolume VII).
