The topsoil from the semi-arid loam flats will be removed <br />to a depth of 20 to 60 inches and stockpiled (Figure J-1). A <br />temporary vegetative cover will be established on topsoil stockpiles <br />to minimize wind and water erosion and to maintain organic matter in <br />the soil. ldhere practicable, woody vegetation will be removed from <br />the site and put to a beneficial use such as firewood by the BLM. <br />Some woody vegetation will be piled and left near the site perimeters <br />for use by small animals for cover (See Exhibit I).
