The topsoil will be replaced as evenly as possible and soil amendments
will be added if soil testing indicates a need. Piled vegetation will
be handled in accordance with suggestions from the Bureau of Land
Management and the Division of Wildlife.
E.3.4 Revegetation
The land will be revegetated to establish a diverse, effective, and
long-lasting vegetative cover that can regenerate and is equal in extent
of cover to the natural vegetation of the surrounding undisturbed area.
Both native and introduced species will be used in revegetation.
Woody species will be utilized on selected portions of the affected area
• and planted as available. The slopes proposed for reclaimed land will
be commensurate with the proposed land use.
Cotter is designing test plot studies to provide information to insure
success in plant establishment and soil development. Environmental
factors, soil texture and fertility, slope stability, and slope aspect
will be taken into consideration. Attention will be given to biological
factors, seeding and transplanting practices, care of planting stock,
and restriction of grazing during initial establishment.
Techniques of site preparation and protection will be implemented as
necessary with methods of weed control employed as necessary and practical
to prevent the spreading of prohibited noxious weed species.
E-4
