Topsoil Stockpiles
Various topsoil stockpiles have been located throughout the mine site. The topsoil was
and continues to be used for reclamation activities. These stockpiles are located neaz
areas that have been or will be reclaimed in order to minimize hauling distances and land
disturbance. Topsoil stockpiles scheduled to stand longer than one year have been
vegetated with stabilizing grass species in order to minimize erosion. Upon removal of
the stockpiled materials, the stockpile foundation has or will be scarified to loosen the
foundation materials and will then be vegetated.
Main Haul Road
A single haul road, approximately two miles in length, connects waste rock facilities and
the mine pits with the ore stockpile/crusher and mill facilities located south of the county
road. The road is constructed of waste rock with safety berms on either side in
accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations.
Stormwater falling on the haul road surface is collected and diverted to sediment basins
staged along the entire route of the haul road to settle suspended sediments prior to
infiltration or release.
Currently, the haul road sections north of the county road connecting to the mine pits
have been incorporated into the post-reclamation stormwater collection and diversion
system for the East and West Pit backfill areas and waste rock facilities B and C as
shown in Figure 1. Those sections south of the county roadway will be reduced in width
to apost-reclamation 35 foot running width. Once the running width of the roadway is
reduced the aeeas outside the roadway surface will be topsoiled and vegetated. This
reduced width section of roadway will be left to allow access to the CCNRCS industrial
park area.
Water Treatment Facility
The water treatment facility is located along the southeastern portion of the West Pit
backfill surface covering approximately 4 acres. The facility consists of three HDPE
lined staging/storage ponds capable of storing or staging approximately 5 million gallons
of water and a water treatment facility structure approximately 140' x 70' which houses
Batt/e Mountain Resources, Inc.
