the water treatment equipment. Each of these facilities is protected by bermed structures
to prevent the flow of upgradient stormwater into the lined ponds or the water treatment
facility. In addition to these ponds and the water treatment building, the system includes
three concrete containment areas used for reagent storage (i.e., lime silo, soda ash silo,
and muriatic acid storage tank) and a water treatment sludge-drying pad. Precipitation
falling within the water treatment plant footprint (ponds and associated structures) is
contained and managed with the water treatment facility.
Old Heap Leach Pad and Test Heap/Office Site
The approved DMG permit included an old heap leach pad and a test heap/office site.
The old heap leach pad is located north and east of the mill facility and directly south of
the West Pit azea on the south side of the Rito Seco (Figure 1). This heap leach pad was
operated by a previous company and was neutralized prior to BMRI operations. The
neutralization was approved by the DMG. Following neutralization, BMRI removed the
heap-leached material and beneficiated the material at the San Luis milling facilities. In
addition to removing the material, BMRI removed the underlying synthetic liner material
and contoured, topsoiled, and revegetated the site.
' The test heap and office site consists of approximately 10 acres and is located to the west
of the mine site. The test heap has been neutralized and removed and the property has
' been transferred to an independent third party. Therefore, BMRI does not own or operate
this azea and this stormwater management plan does not address these locations.
3.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
3.1 General
The following sections discuss the general site characteristics. Amore detailed
discussion can be found in the approved DMG Permit M-88-112 and associated technical
revisions.
Bat[!e Mountain Resources, /nc.
