2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR
MINIMUM REQVIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND
MINING ACTIVITIES -
PLANS.
A sewage treatment plant (elevation 6950 feet) manufactured by
Environmental Conditioners Incorporated handled all waste from
the mine site. This sewage treatment plant was reclaimed by the
operator during 2000.
The plant employs a biochemical action in which aerobic bacteria
break down and oxidize sewage using the oxygen in solution.
It's patented design incorporates three separate compartments,
each performing a specific function in the total purification
process.
(For details of Sewage Treatment Plant see Sewer Plant Appendix
in Volume 8A.) The Plant construction was completed in 1976.
Other Facilities
Waste Oil Containment Structure
A 10;000 gallon waste oil tank, measuring 8 feet in diameter and
27 feet in length, is located at the crushing and screening
level. Waste oil is poured into a 9 inch pipe at the bench
level immediately above the tank. The fluid is transported
through the pipe to the 10,000' gallon tank. A containment
structure, measuring approximately 9 feet (height) by 61 feet
(length) by 19 feet (width), houses the tank. The location of
the waste oil storage structure is shown on Map No. 6-1. This
structure remains in place but is no longer in service.
Power Line
A 96 KV power line is located between the Delta-Montrose
Electric Association transmission line and the electrical
substations located at the mine site and train load-out.
Construction was started in October, 1976 and completed in July,
1977. It is located on easements from private owners and BLM
right-of-way and consists of wooden poles and guy wires for
stability. The line itself is 4/0 aluminum conductor steel
reinforced and is non-specular to reduce "glare". The poles are
designed and constructed to protect wildlife as stated in
Section 2.05.6(2) - Wildlife Plan. This power line remains in
place and serviceable.
Security Guard House
A pre-engineered steel Security Guard House was constructed at
the entrance to the Bowie No. 1 Mine at the intersection of
Steven's Gulch Road and the BLM tram road. The Operator removed
this structure in 2000, however the concrete foundation and
buttress remain.
It
Permit Renewal
R/v-o Y (4/9~o y~
MR-ion
- 13 -
01/03
