Notes: NPDES Discharge Points 001 and 003 were associated with Sedimentation
Pond No. 1 and Freshwater Pond No. 3, respectively. These ponds have been
removed and reclaimed and the discharge points eliminated.
Locations of surface and ground water monitoring sites are shown on the
Southfield Reclamation Plan Map, (Map 33)
B. Samolino Frequency and Procedure
1. Selected water quality parameters and flow will be measured weekly during
periods of alive discharge
2. Water quality samples will be collected monthly if discharge is occurring
C. Sampling_Procedure
1. The following information will be provided on each sample bottle label:
- Station/Well designation
- Date and time
- Bottle number
- Analysis code
- Individual's initials
2. Samples will be collected in such a manner as to minimize physical
disturbance at the sample point.
3. Sampling devices will be cleaned prior to use and samples will be placed in
clean sample containers which will be sealed at the sampling site.
4. Samples will be placed in a cooler with ice immediately after collection and
will be shipped within 24 hours to a laboratory for analysis.
5. Weekly water quality sampling will included measurement of pit and
collection and analysis of grab samples for settleable solids. If there is a
visible sheen either on the pond surface or downstream from the discharge
point grab samples will also be analyzed for oil and grease.
6. Monthly water quality samples will be analyzed for TSS and total iron.
D. Data Processing and Reoortino
1. Copies of field and laboratory data sheets will be sent quarterly to the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the
CDMG
2. If water quality analysis results indicate a possible permit violation, the
CDPHE and CDMG will be notified immediately. In addition, both agencies
will be provided with copies of the suspect analysis results and a report
discussing any necessary mitigation.
MR-50 3 Revised -June 2003
