III. Kevegatation: to be completed ~rithin five years after permanent
cessation of mining operations. Revegatation species were
chosen for their palatability, and ability to withstand drought,
slight salt conditions and adverse soil conditions. The species
selected are at times unavailable due to present lack ~f demand,
It is erpected that in the future these species will be more
readily available. Future technology and our own expe:^imental
plots may suggest future changes in the chosen species. All
seeding Drill be by the broadcast method and planted in late fall.
After seeding, the surfaces will be dragged to provide ~r nomimal
coverage of soil. All seeding rates are 'eased or. pure live
seed and broadcast seeding methods. The mixture is as follows:
Crested Flheatgrass 6 n/zcre
Sand Dropseed .2 rt/acre
Indian P.icegrass 1.5 R/acre
tifestern 4lheatgrass 2.6 f/acre
Four Ffing Saltbush 5.3 ~/acre
Although the Crested Wheatgrass is not a native it is assumed
that the native species will take over. The Four fling Salt-
bush provides excellent bro:;se for deer, cattle and other wild-
life as well as shelter for small c;ildlife species. The mixture
of grasses will grow and mature at different times of tine year
to allow for the variabilities of the B.L.1.1. grazing permits.
I~fost lands are grazed from [Jovember thru Piay, but not a.Lrrays on
an every year basis.
Soil ammendments are rot planned at this time as i;aste materials
indicate they will support plant growth as Ammonium Mitrate
blasting underground leaves a useable nitrate residue. However
future tests and conditions may warrant the addition of soil
ammendments. Replanting will be implemented if necessary.
