Reclamation Plan - Sunday ?!ine
'the life of the mine is estimated at 10-15 years, very little reclamation
work can be done before then. Surrounding lands are used for dry
rangeland and wildlife habitat, therefore the reclamation choice is to
return 'the affected lands to useable grazing and wildlife values. Recla-
mation will be completed in three phases.
I. Clean-up: to be completed within approximately two years
from the termination of mining activities. This phase trill
require the clean-up acd removal of buildings, pin lines,
^_ribbine, .-inks, az^s-..-pus debris and oth.~r rece•;abie sur.uce
facilities. the portals i;ill be locked or sealed to prevent
hazards or unauthorized entry. The vent fans will he removed
zed a steel covering will be. placed over each vent site.
II. Earthmoring: to be completed ~;ithin approximately two years
after termination of mining activities. The waste mineral
dumps are anticipated to have economic values i~ the future,
so it would not be feasible to spread them over a large area.
The existing topography consists of many steep hills with
slopes up to 30 degrees. The dumps and terrace; iai11 be
contoured by reducing 'the slopes to blend into the natural
terrain. Berms and gouges would be placed around the
contours and along natural drainages to impede run-off, trap
sediments and natural seeds thereby increasing the ability
to revegetate naturally. (See Piap) A11 surfaces 'to be reseeded
will be sca_~ified to break up the crusts and provide soft
seed beds. The proposed water retention ponds would be
left to trap natural run-off for livestock and wildlife.
Cutbanks around vent sites and pads will be resloped to
natural topography. Roads will he scarified and waterbarred
in appropriate locations to prevent erosion and for caatex~
entrapment.
