• The upper well would be drilled first. If water available downhole is of sufficient quantity, <br />the second lower well would not be drilled. If the upper well is not sufficient, it will be <br />plugged and abandoned the same day it is drilled. <br />• Would drill angle holes to intersect vein. <br />• Wells would be approximately 100 feet deep to reach below the river level. <br />• Wells would be 2% inches in diameter, cased with PVC. <br />• A shallow pit would be dug below each well site to contain any water that may be released <br />during drilling. The pit(s) would be dug by a backhoe, and would be approximately 4 feet <br />deep and 8 feet in diameter. The pit(s) would be filled back in after drilling is completed and <br />the site restored to its original contour. <br />This proposal meets the criteria to be qualified for issuance of a Minimum Impact Permit. The <br />proposal is in conformance with BLM plans, policies, and programs, local zoning ordinances, <br />and any other requirements, and will not cause appreciable damage or disturbance to the public <br />lands, their resources or improvements. Therefore, publication of a Notice of Realty Action is <br />not required. <br />PLAN CONFORMANCE REVIEW: The Proposed Action is subject to and has been <br />reviewed for conformance with (43 CFR 1610.5, BLM 1617.3) the following plan: <br />Name of Plan: Gunnison Resource Area Record of Decision, Approved Resource <br />Management Plan. and Rangeland Program Summary <br />Date Approved: February 5, 1993 <br />Management Unit: 1 (part of the Alpine Triangle Special Recreation Management Area). <br />Decision Number/Page: N/A <br />Decision Laneua¢e: The activities proposed in the application are not specifically <br />addressed in the RMP under Standard Management or the specific Management Unit <br />prescriptions. However, the activities are compatible with protecting the resources, uses, <br />and values that are emphasized in the MU (pg. 2-20). Therefore, the proposed action is in <br />comformance with the RMP. <br />CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION REVIEW: The proposed action qualifies as a categorical <br />exclusion under 516 DM 6, Appendix 5.4, Number: E (19). None of the following exceptions in <br />516 DM 2, Appendix 2, apply. <br />Exclusion <br />1. Have significant adverse effects on public health and safety. <br />2.
