<br />Segment #4 consists of shallow basalt cobble over <br />weathered sandstone. <br />Road between the Junction of Drill Site #8 and the Main <br />Access Road <br />This road was divided into four segments for evaluation. <br />The first segment consists of shallow to moderately deep <br />soil over weathered or fractured sandstone. The second segment <br />is basalt cobbles and deep clay soil over sandstone. Sample <br />#27 was taken from the roadbed of this segment. <br />Segment #3 has shallow soil over weathered sandstone. <br />There is some deeper colluvial soils. The cut slopes expose <br />sandstone and shale. The roadbed has very shallow soil over <br />~ • sandstone and shale. The fill. slopes contain a mixture of <br />soil, sandstone, nd shale. <br />The fourth segment lies on top of a ridge. I,ow cuts <br />and low fills contain topsoil materiel. <br />Road.to Drill Sites #9 and #10 <br />Samples #21A, #21B, #22A, #228, and #23 were taken from <br />the switchback area of the road between drill sites #9 and <br />#10, which was designated as segment'#1. The upper one-third <br />of the cut slope is colluvial material to a depth of five <br />inches and clay material from five inches to twenty-four <br />inches. The lower two-thirds of the cut slope is weathered <br />shale material from ten to twenty inches. The roadbed is <br />. weathered shale from 16 to 30 inches. Overlying the shale <br /> <br />
