Page 8
North Decline East of Channel - This area was below the
collection ditch leading into the pond associated with
the permitted waste water discharge point. This area was
reseeded in 1992. A sump was installed to contain the
stormwater. The sump is designed for non-discharging,
total containment of a 20 year 24 hour storm.
Outslope of Rail Loop - This area is a slope below a
portion of the UTL rail loop. The track area is well
graveled and the hillside is well vegetated to minimize
sediment contamination of stormwater.
UTL Access Road - A small section of road near the Coal
Creek crossing is not included in other drainage control
areas. Straw bales are installed along the low portion
of the road to minimize the sediment contamination of
stormwater.
RSN Access Road - A small section of road near the Coal
Creek crossing is not included in other drainage control
areas. Straw bales are installed along the low portion
of the road to minimize the sediment contamination of
stormwater.
c. Preventive Maintenance - Drainage control maintenance is
a major emphasis during DMG inspections. Many of the
areas listed are checked during their monthly inspections
and generally all of them are checked during the
quarterly complete inspections. Integrity of the berms,
bales, ditches, culverts and road surfaces are evaluated
regularly. Signs of excessive erosion are evaluated for
the potential of adding sediment to stormwater. The
adequacy of vegetation is also evaluated. Maintenance is
done when potential problems are noted in these
inspections. None of the areas covered by this SWMP have
a significant potential for contamination of stormwater
except from sediment.
d. Good House Reepiag -
- Garbage and waste material will be picked up and
disposed of regularly.
- Lubricants used on these sites will be kept in covered
storage.
- Leaky equipment and vehicles will be moved to a site
within the drainage control of a waste water discharge
permit for repair.
- Dust will be controlled regularly on roadways used for
coal or refuse haulage.
- Vegetation will be maintained in areas outside the
normal operations area to minimize erosion.
