Page 7 <br />front of each portal to prevent stormwater runoff from <br />entering the mine as well as preventing stormwater runoff <br />around the portal excavation from entering the drainage <br />system. The roadways and the substation were graveled to <br />reduce sediment contamination of stormwater. A berm was <br />installed around the overburden stockpile to contain <br />stormwater from the pile. <br />South Fan - This area, shown of Map C, was designed with <br />minimal disturbance to install a fan and substation at <br />this site for the RSS. The fan and substation pad is <br />bermed and graveled to minimize sediment contamination of <br />stormwater. The overburden stockpiles were installed <br />with berms to contain stormwater. Avery minimal amount <br />of petroleum products are used to lubricate the fan. The <br />bermed area would contain spills associated with the fan <br />lubrication. <br />A and B Substations - These remote substations sites <br />shown on Map A east of the RSS disturbance area are <br />small fenced enclosures. The areas are well graveled to <br />minimize sediment contamination of stormwater. <br />CRDA Topsoil Stockpiles - These piles, shown of Map A, <br />are located between the CRDA 1 and 2. A berm was <br />installed around the toe of the piles to contain <br />stormwater. <br />Reclaimed CRDA 1 Stockpiles. These two piles, adjacent <br />to CRDA 1, were used in 1994. The areas have been seeded <br />and straw bales have been placed around the toe of the <br />disturbance to minimize sediment contamination of <br />stormwater. <br />Reclaimed Cameo Borrow Area No. 1 - This was disturbed <br />and reseeded in 1994. A sump, or small depression was <br />installed to contain stormwater runoff from a 20 year 24 <br />hour storm event. DMG considers this to be total <br />containment thereby not requiring a discharge point. <br />Reclaimed Northwest Intake Portal - This area along the <br />highway was reseeded in 1992 and straw bales installed <br />along the toe of the disturbance to minimize sediment <br />contamination of the stormwater. <br />North Decline West of Channel - This area was separated <br />from a permitted waste water discharge point by a <br />reestablished drainage channel. This area was reseeded <br />in 1992. A sump was installed to contain the stormwater. <br />The sump is designed for non-discharging, total <br />containment of a 20 year 24 hour storm. <br />
