0
surface and the site does not appear to contain buried deposits or features.
The Bite surface is lightly eroded by sheet water and wind erosion. This site
is not considered likely to contribute further information important to the
prehistory of the area and is, therefore, not considered eligible for nomination
to the National Register of Historic Places.
Site 1150 is a possible prehistoric campsite consisting of a possible
firehearth, indicated by a circular alignment of oxidized sandstone cobbles (.70
m in diameter), and a sparse scatter of lithic debitage. Included in the
artifactusl assemblage are 15 flakes, two cores, and a possible hammerstone.
The age of the site cannot be determined. The depth of cultural deposits is
unknown, but it seems unlikely that additional artifacts or features exist. Due
to the lack of diagnostic artifacts, the low artifact density, and the apparent
lack of buried cultural deposits, this site is not believed to be eligible for
inclusion on the National Register.
Located on a sagebrush-dominated ridge, this small (25 x 10 m) site consists of
a sparse scatter of lithic artifacts without discernible features. Artifacts
observed include a small aide-notched projectile point, one biface fragment, and
12 chart flakes. The projectile point has been classified as a Desert Side-
Notched style, dating post A. D. 1000. Based on surface indications it seems
unlikely that site 1152 would provide further important data and it is not
considered to be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic
O Places.
This site consists of a single hearth of unlmown age. The hearth is a
concentration of sandstone cobbles which exhibit fire-reddening on the interior.
Some ash and wood debris is present in the hearth, and it is strongly suspected
to be historic in age. No artifacts were found nearby. Due to the lack of
artifacts and suspected recent age of this feature, it is not thought to be
eligible for the National Register.
Site 1154 is a prehistoric campsite of unknown age. It includes a possible
hearth, comprised of two large sandstone blocks. About 6 m away, two flakes
were noted. The site has no apparent depth and, along with the lack of
diagnostic artifacts, it does not appear to contain information important to the
prehistory of the region. The hearth contains no datable charcoal. As a
consequence, the site is not considered eligible for the National Register.
This site is defined ae a lithic scatter scatter, including a sparse
distribution of 24 flakes and a quartzite scraper, found on a ridge. The site
area is approximately 20 m E-W x 17 m N-S; no features are apparent within this
area. Several of the flakes exhibit reddening, possibly indicating heat-
treating, or perhaps a natural forest fire at the location. A lack of
diagnostic artifacts, cultural features, and apparent depth of cultural
materials argue that this lithic scatter is unlikely to contribute important
data to the prehistory of the area. It is not considered to be eligible for
nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
This site is a prehistoric/recent historic limited activity site located atop a
ridge. The prehistoric component is indicated by the presence of a single chart
10-80 13
