This <br />site has no Heritage Value. <br />5RB 921 is located or. the ezisting two-track road which provides access to core <br />holes 21013-15 and 21013-16. This site contains at least one hearth and three <br />additional possible hearths, including an ash and charcoal scatter, which is <br />located in the middle of the road. This ash scatter could be a disturbed hearth <br />or the ash from a burnt juniper tree. All of the artifacts found in this site <br />were found in the road or in anthills, indicating that moat of the site is <br />buried. It is recommended that the use of this road by Western Fuels through <br />the site be monitored by a professional archaeologist in order to determine <br />whether the ashy area is a hearth and to adequately record this and any other <br />features uncovered by road use. <br />Should any future plans to impact this site be formulated, it should be tested <br />to confirm the presence of subsurface cultural deposits and to fully evaluate <br />its eligibility to the National Register. It has no Heritage Value. <br />This site is a sheltered campsite consisting of two firehearths of indeterminate <br />age and the historic remnants of a jackrabbit strung inside a sandstone <br />overhang. The site apparently represents recent coyote trapping or baiting <br />activities. The probable recent age of the site and the type of short-term <br />activity represented indicate that the site is ineligible for nomination to the • <br />National Register of :[istoric Places. Little information important to history <br />is likely to be extracted from 5RB 1028. <br />Site 5RB 1030 appears to represent coyote trapping or baiting activities. The <br />site consists of jack:^abbit parts suspended by wire in a small sandstone <br />overhang. Partially burnt juniper and oxidized sandstone cobbles suggest that <br />the site was utilized in the not distant past. The type of activity represented <br />and its probable recent age suggest that 5RB 1030 is not eligible for nomination <br />to the National Register of Historic Places. <br />Site 5RB 1031 repreaeiits the remains of historic activities. The site consists <br />of a scatter of fire-cracked rock in front of a sandstone overhand. The fire- <br />cracked rock may be tiie remains of a hearth. Observed on the site were historic <br />cans and bottles. An historic brush fence is located nearby. This site is not <br />considered eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. <br />The recent age and natiatructural nature of the site suggest that little <br />information important to regional history can be extracted from the site. <br />This site represents recent coyote trapping activities. The site consists of a <br />shallow sandstone ovex•haag in which parts of a rabbit carcass are suspended. A <br />liquor bottle end an inscription reading "David Thomas 1-18-77" were found <br />nearby. The recent a~;e of the site and the type of activity represented render <br />this site ineligible i'or nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. <br />This site represents the possible remains of an open campsite, located on a <br />bench above Red Wash. Present on the site are one definite and txo possible <br />hearth areas, evidenced by concentrations of fire-reddened sandstone. No • <br />artifacts were observed on the site.
