1
' Prior to topsoil replacement in the North Mining Area, a scraper will smooth-out
' any rough ground in the setback and lakeshore areas in preparation for growth
medium placement.
1
' In the South Borrow Pit Area, a loader will be used to backdrag the 2:1 slopes
' leading to the pit floor. Prior to growth medium replacement, a scraper may be
used to smooth out any rough areas.
Exhibit D shows final reclamation contours in both mining areas. The South
Borrow Pit Area shows 2:1 contours leading to the pit floor from the edge of the
excavation. The North Mining Area shows final reclamation contours of 3:1 and
' 2:1 leading from the setback areas (level) into the base elevation (approximately
4,002 ft.) of the lake floor.
' Topsoil Replacement:
In both mining areas (North Mining Area and South Borrow Pit Area),
topsoil/overburden will be re-spread over the disturbed ground to a minimum
' depth of 12 inches with a scraper.
' The growth medium will be spread over ground that has been smoothed and
readied for topsoil replacement. Due to the loose and permeable nature of the
' sand and gravel at the mining locations, ripping or scarifying of the disturbed
ground will not be required. Disking of the topsoil may be required due to
' 22
