Topsoil Preservation:
I
' In both mining areas, any salvageable topsoil/overburden will be stripped from
the area planned for mining for the following two years, and will be stockpiled.
In the South Borrow Pit Area, any salvageable overburden will be stripped with a
scraper and stockpiled onto and extending the pre-existing berm created by a
former owner of the property. Stockpile slopes will be maintained at 2:1 and will
be revegetated with the standard, final reclamation seed mix shown in Table E.
In the North Mining Area, overburden/topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled with
a scraper in strategic locations so as to facilitate topsoiling of the setback and
lake shoreline areas. Exhibit C shows graphic representations of where
stockpiles of overburden might be located. The operator will be required to
' maintain only as much topsoil in storage as will be required to reclaim the 14.5
acres of final shoreline of the lake. Stockpiles will be revegetated with the
' reclamation seed mix if they are to remain longer than one year. They will be
seeded by broadcast seeding and will maintain 2:1 slopes.
' Regrading and Shaping:
Mining of the North Mining Area will be accomplished so as to leave ean
undulating_shoreline with 3:1 and 2:1 slopes leading to the lake bottom. This
' activity will be accomplished primarily with the dragline.
' 21
