Phase One Minin
At the present time Ready Mixed Concrete is mining a short
' distance to tha south on the Tower Farms property. This
particular site is exhausted on the east side of the river. The
applicant intends to move its operation to this site.

1

1

1

1

During the summer, fall, and winter of 1987 the applicant will
grade th• plant site area and construct an access road from Old
Brighton Roed. The processing plant presently on th• Tower Farms
property will be relocated here. There is room reserved for a
ready mixed concrete plant but this will be installed later. We
would anticipate the concrete batch plant to b• installed within
the next 5 years.
At this time we will also relocate the McCann Ditch, which
involves regrading a slight length of the Third Creek in order to
make the area work hydrologically.
The next activity will be the excavation of the wash water pond.
This •xcavation is called Phase One. This pond will then serve
as our recycling source for washing the concrete aggregate.
Concurrent with the excavation we will construct the permanent
conveyor belt which will serve phases 2 through 6.
Prior to the grading of the processing plant site, the topsoil
will be stripped and stockpiled along the north and east sides of
the plant area. City of Brighton regulations call for a 25' wide
landscape buffer. Within this buffer we will create the topsoil
berm. Trees and shrubbery will then be planted as a visual
screen on top of and adjacent to the topsoil berm.
Phase Two Minino
The mining will begin in earnest in the spring of 1988. Th•
mining will progress from Phase Two to Phase Eight. The topsoil
in each 15 acre segment will be stripped and stored in a
segregated topsoil. Then the remaining overburden will be
stockpiled for backfilling of the pit slope and shoreline.
Mining will then begin with the dragline. Material will be
excavated and windrowed for several days to drain off excess
moisture. A loader will then place the resource on a conveyor
belt which will transport it to the processing plant.
At the end oP each mining season, the next 36 acres will be
stripped of topsoil and overburden. Again these two materials
will be segregated and stored. If stockpiles remain Por longer
than one year they will be seeded with a grass mixture to prevent
erosion.
D-2
1
