The main waterline system will utilize the existing portion of the road above the
Sylvester Gulch airshafts and will follow the proposed route of the Shaft Canyon Road
(to be constructed in 2004) up to proposed drill pad 24-08 and on up the ridge to the
RAV-1 Spur and thence along this Spur to the West Bench Road and from there to tie-
into two portable frac tanks at the 23-OS pad site. Pumps may also be situated at this site
to distribute the water to service both drill rigs if needed. From the frac tanks one line
would be extended along the West Bench Road to service all the drill pads along this
road. The second line would cross the West Bench Road and go over the ridge cross-
country to intersect the West Flatiron Road, continuing along that road to the service all
the drill pads located along that road and the East Bench Road.
The approximate waterline, pump, and frac tank locations are provided on the
attached Map 3. MCC will field locate the waterline alignments prior to installation for
review and approval by the responsible USFS representative.
STAGING AREAS
MCC will utilize existing and to be constructed drill pad locations for staging
azeas. The staging areas will allow MCC to temporarily store equipment and supplies
used in the drilling and venting programs, and to store materials required for the
continuing reclamation of past drill sites and roads as well as the interim reclamation of
new roads as they are developed. In particular, MCC would store large quantities of
certified weed-free straw for mulching purposes to minimize traffic on the Minnesota
Creek and Dry Fork roads. The ability of store items such as casing, drill pipe, and
methane exhausters close to the work azeas is beneficial to both the USFS and MCC.
During inclement weather periods, access on the temporary roads with heavy loads is
difficult, dangerous, and time consuming. Having the material close at hand will
minimize road damage and delays to the drilling.
Surplus supplies, debris, and equipment will be removed from the staging azeas
once it is no longer needed. Wintertime storage of supplies including waterline, casing,
valves, and frttings is requested. The location of the wintertime staging area storage site
will be determined with the responsible USFS representative.
MCC proposes the following existing and to be constructed sites as staging areas:
96-23-1
23-OS
23-02
15-07
14-07
15-OS
16-04
16-06
MCC will locate an operations trailer at the 96-23-1 site for site supervision.
Also, sites 14-07 and 16-06 will be used as short term parking areas for heavy equipment
12
