Completion and approval of the Annual Bird Survey is anticipated by June 15. A
schedule of drilling is presented based on that date. Drilling should require 9 days per
hole including mobilization from site to site, setup, drilling, and rig down. The sequence
in which the MDW's are drilled may change dependent on the progress of the Panel 22
gate development entries and the additional information that becomes available as a
result.
2003 MDW DRILL SCHEDULE
M140A 1M140B
No. Start date Finish Datel IHole No. Start date Finish
lb-JUn ZJ-JUn 3-UZ lb-JUn Z5-Jl
24-Jun 1-Jul 2-02a 26-Jun 5-J
2-Jul 9-Jul 2-02b 6-JUI 15-J
10-Jul 17-Jul 3-03a 16-Jul 25-J
18-Jul 25-Jul 3-03b 26-Jul 4-Ai
26-Jul 2-Aug 2-01 5-Aug 14-Ai
3-Aug 10-Aug 2-01a 15-Aug 24-At
11-Aug 18-Aug 3-01 25-Aug 3-Se
3-01a 4-Sep 13-Se
Delays due to mechanical breakdowns, inclement weather, hole conditions,
operational requirements, and permit approval are not represented in the schedule. MCC
will be contracting for two drill rigs to complete this aggressive schedule.
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
MCC will be installing and maintaining a water supply system to provide water to
the drill sites and for dust suppression activities. This system will minimize to a large
degree the need for water skidders and water trucks to travel the temporary roads. The
water supply system will include, but is not limited to, flexible hosing, rigid piping, water
pumps, and storage tanks.
MCC will install the water supply system prior to, or as soon as possible after the
construction of the drill pads. Intermediate use of water trucks to initiate the start of hole
drilling may be required. The hosing and /or pipes will be placed along side of existing
roads wherever practical. The lines will be anchored to prevent damage due to surging in
the lines. Flexible hosing will be laid out cross-country to minimize total line length
and/or to maximize operational efficiency of the system. Cross-country routes from the
Shaft Canyon Road to RAV 1 pad and from 23-OS over the ridge to a point just north of
the proposed drill pad location 24-OS along the West Flatiron Road are anticipated. MCC
would install, maintain, and recover these cross-country segments of the water lines by
hand in order to minimize impacts.
11
