• BESPONSB: <br />The Colorado Yampa Coal Company has developed a format for the <br />fish and wildlife plan that is intended to facilitate the <br />~ determination of compliance with Rule 4.18. Adverse impacts on <br />fish, wildlife and related environmental values have been and will <br />continue to be minimized at Energy Miae No. 3 through strict <br />adherence to the plan outlined below. <br />General Statement of plan <br /> In order to protect the fish and wildlife resources ezisting in <br /> the vicinity of Energy Mine Ao. 3, literature reviews and baseline <br />• investigations were initiated and reports containing information <br /> relevant to the biological communities within the proposed permit <br /> and adjacent areas prepared. Impacts on the fish and wildlife <br /> reaourcea identified in these studies have been and will continue to <br /> be minimized through [he careful design and implementation of the <br /> mining and reclamation plane. In those areas where disturbance <br /> could not be avoided, mitigative measures were instituted as part of <br /> the operations plan. In all instances, disturbance has been limited <br /> to areas needed for actual eztraction of coal, temporary storage of <br /> overburden and topsoil, and construction of haulroada or <br /> sedimentation control structures, with the commitment that all <br /> disturbed areas will be reclaimed as contemporaneously as <br />• practicable to restore the necessary <br />2.05 - 115 <br />
