RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
EDIT E
The total disturbed area to be reclaimed under this permit is 159.76 acres. The post-mining land
use for the entire permit area will be wetlands in the lake area, residential on the peninsulas, and
dry rangeland on the flat areas around the perimeter of the lake between the residential areas.
Map F shows the post-mining topography and identifies the three areas of reclamation.
As described in the mining plan, reclamation will occur concurrently with mining. Topsoil and
overburden from the current mining phase will be used to reclaim the Phase which has
previously been mined as well as building the peninsulas as shown. Topsoil will be replaced on
all graded areas except those areas that are 10 feet below expected water level. By doing this the
distance that the topsoil and overburden will have to be transported as well as the amount of
material which will have to be rehandled will be minimized. Additionally, the acreage which is
unreclaimed will be minimized, which will make the worst case reclamation smaller and thus,
the bond will be smaller.
The worst case reclamation scenario occurs at the conclusion of mining. At this point the
unreclaimed area will be the largest. The topsoil berms would have to be rehandled and regraded
into the mining slopes in order to cover the slopes with the required 2 inches of topsoil. All
mining slopes on Phase 12 would require backfilling and the staging/processing area would
require reseeding. Several structures would require to be removed such as the shop building and
the fuel bunker. The reclamation timetable is shown below in Section 2 in Table E-2 and the
worst case scenario is calculated in Eabibit L: Reclamation Costs.
The shapes of the peninsulas shown on Map F are approximate. In order to meet standards for
the residential lots which will be created, the fill material will be documented and certified to a
compaction of 95% in order to ensure that no settling occurs in the filled material upon
completion.
Anderson Pit February OS E-1
