The inspection consisted of a tour
of the existing underground workings at that time. The
mains had been driven into the mountain for a distance
of some 1200 feet. A number of roof cracks were en-
countered in areas of sandstone immediate roof. The
tour was conducted as a result concerns that mining
could potentially contribute to a large landside failure.
A listing of attendees and organizations appears below:
• Mined Land Reclamation (MLR)
Jim Pendleton
Ed Bischoff
Dave Shelton
Minerals Mana4ement Service (MMS)
Bill Wentworth
Barry Kita
Matt Malcomb
Colorado Geological Survev (CGS)
Rahe Junge
U.S. Geological Survey, Engineering Geolocy Branch (USGS)
Richard Dunrud
Dave Varner
west Elk Coal Company, inc.
