COLORADO YAMPA COAL COMPANY
CERTIFICATION INSPECTION FOR DRAINAGES
DATE OF INSPECTION September 230, 1988
INSPECTION ACTIVITIES
o Checked bedding and riprap placement and final channel
configuration for Drainage 51
o Checked bedding placement for Drainage 51W
o Checked bedding and riprap placement and channel configuration
for Drainage 31-1
FINDINGS
o Bedding and riprap placement have been completed for Drainage
51 except for the upper key cut. Placement looks good with
adequate thickness, good gradation, and a well defined
channel. Bower Bros. will complete grading of sideslopes and
channel tie-ins. Suggested to Terrill Johnson and Bud Bower
that some excess rock be placed as check dams or water bars to
control flow velocities and minimize erosion below drainage.
o Bedding placement has been completed for Drainage 51W.
Placement thickness on channel bottom is adequate. However,
bedding has not been carried high enough on channel
sideslopes. Talked with Terrill Johnson and Bud Bower about
the problem. Bower will bring in additional bedding and place
it at full thickness to top of flow channel.
