E,^.hedra (Enhredra soo.), Squawapple (Peraphvlium ramosissmum), snowberry <br />S - <br />(S~.mnhoricarpos spp.), and mountain mahogany (CercocarpuS montanus), <br />(Cover class - rare), <br />Mixed Shrub <br />The mixed shrub brush-type is found mainly on the northeastern <br />and east faci;ig slopes along the west side of Stevens Gulch. This <br />type is made up of a mixture of various shrub species including <br />cliff fendlerbush (Fendlera ruoicola), Gambel oak, big sagebrush, <br />serviceberry, mountain mahogany, squawapple, snowberry and bitter- <br />brush. (Cover class - moderate). The cliff fendlerbush and <br />oal: are more abundan_ at the higher elevations with mountain <br />mahogany and skunk bush more common on the lower drier slopes. <br />~~ ' Scattered juniper and a few pinyon are found in the community. <br />• The grr,und cover consists of fortis ar,d a few grasses <br />including cheat grass and Indian rice grass (Orvzopsis hymonoides). <br />(Cover class - scattered), <br />Cak °rush <br />The oak brush type occurs a`, higher elevations adjacent to <br />aid aoove the m•,ine site. The major species is Gambel oak (Ouercus <br />a~~~beli), (cover class - moderate to heavy) which occurs in thick <br />stands witr; r:idely scattered pinyon pike and junipers. The under- <br />stor~• consists of low density grasses, fortis and shrubs. A <br />,ransiticn exists betrreen this and the iowrr types with patches <br /> and .,_rin:;ers o' both pin•,^en- j~,.~niper and mixed shrub intermingled <br /> <br /> with the oa!: brush depending en the site. <br />L <br />
