Since the quarry is
presently not operating, this program will start subsequent to the activa-
tion of the operation. The Health Department will monitor the fugitive
dust, noise and water pollution at least once quarterly to check for com-
pliance with the Colorado Air Pollution Control Commission's regulations
on fugitive dust, the Colorado State noise laws, and the Colorado Health
Department and E.P.A.'s rules and regulations governing water pollution
as related to a mining operation. The applicable regulations are as follows:
1) Noise - C.R.S. 1973 25-12-103
2) Fugitive Dust - C.A.P.P.C. Regulation nl Section IID
Fugitive Dust (effective August 1, 1974)
3) Water Pollution - C.P.A.'s Development Document for Interim
Final Effluent Limitations Guidelines and
New Source Performance Standards for the
Minerals for the Constructicn Industry,
Volume 1, Mineral Mining and Processing
Industry, Point Source Category, October,
1975. Colorado Department of Health's Water
Quality Standards and Stream Classification.
Colorado Department of Health Guidelines for
Control of Water Pollution from Mine Drainage.
As preventative measures, the floor of the quarry will be watered down as
necessary to prevent fugitive dust from being introduced into the air as
a result of the movement of heavy machinery. And the gravel trucks leaving
the site will be sprayed as necessary to prevent dust from coming off the
load during hauling. Trucks will be loaded to such a level as to minimize
the amount of dust and larger size material blowing out of or falling off
the vehicles during hauling.
Vegetation and Wildlife
Since this quarry has been in operation for some time, much of the existing
vegetation is already destroyed. No new destruction of existing vegetation
will occur during the one-year applicability of this report.
-5-
