.~ '.'

Disruption of wildlife has occurred and will occur in the future operation
of the quarry. The adverse impact of this disruption is negligible, however,
due to the other disruptive land uses in the area. It is doubtful whether
any substantial repopulation of the site by wildlife will occur:
Historical, Archaeological and Geological Concerns
There are no sites of historical, archaeological or geological interests/
located in this area.
Esthetic Impact.
The esthetic impact of a quarry operation is adverse. However, with in-
progress and final reclamation efficiently carried out, this adverse
esthetic impact will be substantially lowered.
Reclamation Plans
In-Progress Reclamation
The excavation and reclamation to be done within the one-year applicability
of this report will commence at the eastern extreme of•the site and work
westward. A benched backslope starting at the southern property line of
the eastern tract (see Figure 6) will drop down 15 to 20 vertical feet to
a 15 to 20 feet wide bench and continue down with three benches planned
leveling out at a point approximately 125 feet from Colorado Highway 285.
With the aid of the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District, adequate
topsoil and indigenous vegetation will be replanted and maintained on these
benches. Excavation and reclamation of the eastern tract will be completed
within two years of the County Commissioners' approval of this report.
Final Reclamation
There are two options for the final reclamation of this site. lJhich one is
finally approved depends on further negotiations with the landowners of the
existing site and the landowners of some parcels of land to the south and
southwest of the existing site. Option 1 involves reclaiming the site as
it is legally described now. Figure 7 shows the final appearance of the
area if this option is approved. The level area will vary from 125 feet
wide at the eastern end of the quarry to approximately 300 feet wide at the
western end. The backslopes will contain benches 15 to 20 feet wide separated
by slopes rising at a rate no smaller than 45 degrees and no higher than
20 vertical feet. This benching will start at the southernmost property line
and continue down to a point as shown on Figure 7.
The second option for final reclamation requires the leasing of lands im-
mediately to the south and ~•iest of the existing site. With i.hese lands, the
-southern and eastern portions of the existing site can be leveled to road
grade with the benched backslopes necessary only along the western boundary
of the existing site. The specifications of the backslopes would be the
same as in Option 1. Figure 8 shows the configuration of the quarry ex-
pected under Option 2. More specific plans for this recl mation plan will
be prepared once the negotiations are settled with the landowners.
-6-
