An aerated sludge digester is provided at the plant. Effluent <br />measurement is provided by a slot notch weir with an ultrasonic level control. Outfa11004 is <br />located at 38° 55.53 north, 107° 32.79 west. <br />The domestic wastewater treatment facility did not experience any sanitary sewer overflows <br />in the past two years. An SSO report form is attached to this letter. <br />• Outfa11005 is also known as the Air Shaft. It an outfall for mine drainage that is first settled <br />in a mine sump, then pumped to the surface. It has been in service for a year, and has <br />discharged during the third and fourth quarters of 2001. This outfall was not accessible <br />during our inspection. Based on the permit information, Outfall 005 is located at 38° 56.68 <br />north, 107° 31.78 west. <br />Outfa11006 is also known as Piped Minewater. It is an outfall from the portal of Bowie Mine <br />#2, and eventually flows to Outfall 003. The water dischazging from Outfa11006 is first <br />settled in a mine sump, then pumped to the surface. This is a new outfall, and dischazge <br />monitoring data has not been submitted. Outfa11006 is located at 38° 55.83 north, 107° 32.90 <br />west. <br />Outfa11007 is also known as Pond J. It is a settling pond for the train loadout, and is currently <br />under construction, This is a new outfall, and dischazge monitoring data has not been <br />submitted. Outfa11007 is located at 38° 55.28 north, 107° 32.09 west. <br />Outfall 004 is for the domestic wastewater treatment system. This facility's treatment operator in <br />responsible charge is Don DeGraffenried. Mr. DeGraffenried holds a current Class C wastewater <br />treatment operators license, #C-3071. Mr. DeGraffenried's qualifications meet the standards of <br />Section 100.5.2 of the Water and Wastewater Facility Operators Certification Requirements <br />Re lug ation for this facility. The collection system for the facility is entirely within the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine property. Based on Section 100.2.22 of the Onerators Regulation, a certified collection system <br />operator is not required. <br />Outfalls 001, 002, 003, 005, 006, and 007 are for the industrial wastewater treatment system. These <br />facilities are not operated by a Class D industrial wastewater treatment operator, as required by <br />Section 100.6.2 of the Regulation. <br />Facility conditions aze accurately reflected by Amendment #3 of the current permit. <br />During our inspection, the following items were noted and need to be brought to your attention: <br />The industrial wastewater treatment facilities aze not under the supervision of a properly certified <br />industrial wastewater operator. Mr. DeGraffenried's Class C domestic wastewater treatment <br />operator certification may be an acceptable substitute for this requirement.
