Banks and Gesso, LLC
EXHIBIT E -RECLAMATION PLAN
The primary post-mining land use for the Haldorson property will be cropland.
Revegetation will be accomplished using native seed mixes. The Reclamation Plan
assumes the cost for restoration of the mining area as cropland. Reclamation and
revegetation will be on-going as material is excavated. Final reclamation will be
completed within 2 years of the end of all on-site mining activities. Refer to Exhibit F -
Reclamation Plan Map for further details.
Reclamation Process
The reclamation plan calls for backfilling all of the Phase 1 mine area and the northern
Phase 2 mine area to approximately the 5,780 elevation. Backfilling of this area will
employ the use of all of the overburden stripped from all five of the mine areas. Backfill
material from Phase 1 areas will be stockpiled in the northern Phase 2 area until areas
large enough to accommodate that volume is created in Phase 1 areas. Overburden
from remaining phases will be placed directly in Phase 1 and 2 backfill areas. Topsoil
will be placed in these areas once all backfill is completed and final grade is achieved.
Reclamation in the remaining areas of the mine site (Phases 3, 4, 5, and the southern
portion of 2) will consist of topsoiling the 3:1 slopes and pit floor with topsoil that had
been placed in screening berms for those areas. Approximately six inches of topsoil will
be respread over disturbed areas.
Topsoil Segregation. Preservation and Replacement
Temporary topsoil berms will provide visual screening over the life of the mirie and will
be strategically located for easy access during reclamation. All topsoil stockpiles will be
vegetated in order to help control dust and to keep the soil arable. Watering of
stockpiles will occur as needed for dust control.
Final Grades
Pit edges will be mined at a 3:1 slope, leaving the desired post-mining slopes in place.
The Phase 1 and northern portion of Phase 2 mine areas will be backfilled with
overburden to approximately the 5,780 elevation (please refer to Exhibit F -Reclamation
Plan Map). Approximately six inches of topsoil will be re-spread over all disturbed areas.
Haldorson Sand and Gravel Mine 03023
Haldorson and Sons, Inc. April 2003
11
