Banks and Gesso, LLC
reclamation of the pit floor and edges will begin. Approximately 2.5 million tons of sand
and gravel will be extracted from Phase 3. Phase 3 is expected to last an additional 5
years.
Phase 4
When mining is nearing completion in Phase 3 and while reclamation of Phase 1 and 2
mine areas is occurring, stripping of Phase 4 will begin. Again, the plant will be
relocated to this area once enough material is stripped to create an area for the plant.
Approximately 23,000 CY of topsoil and 185,000 CY of overburden will be stripped for
use in reclamation. To the greatest degree possible, stripped topsoil will be placed
directly in reclaimed areas of previous phase areas. Any excess topsoil will be placed in
screening berms along the east and west property boundaries. Overburden will be
placed directly in Phase 1 and 2 reclamation areas.
As in previous phase areas, mining in Phase 4 will proceed from north to south and will
occur at 3:1 slopes. Excavated materials will then be transported to the processing area
via off-road haul trucks and conveyors. As soon as the mining limits have been reached,
reclamation of the pit floor and edges will begin. Approximately 2.5 million tons of sand
and gravel will be extracted from Phase 4. The plant will also be relocated to Phase 5. Approximately 26,500 CY
of topsoil and 211,000 CY of overburden will be stripped from Phase 5 areas.
