Flood irrigation capability <br />Map all areas that have the capability of being flood irrigated. <br />Areas that have the capability of being flood irrigated are those <br />areas where: <br />(1) a diversion ditch can be constricted at sane point along a <br />channel which will lead water fron the sane drainage basin <br />onto the areas in question, by gravity flora through structures <br />such as ditches, canals, or pipes; and <br />• (2) there are two acm-feet of water available per acre of lard <br />which can feasibily be flood- or ditch-irrigated sometime <br />during the period May 1 to September 15 for mJre than one- <br />thins of most years. The two acre-feet quantity may be adjusted <br />to reflect regional differences in evapotranspiration rates <br />and specific crap needs of the area in question. Feasibility <br />shall not be construed to include the legal right to use the <br />water." <br />As a result of consultations with MLR and OSM staff during the technical <br />adequacy review conducted by MLR, the criteria for determining flood <br />irrigation capability have been expanded to include a feasibility study <br />of an area designated by the regulatory agency, using diversion methods <br />• and costs which axe typical of the Northwest Colorado area.
