Revised 1/11/80
• Section 785.19(c) Continued
breaks, tributary gullies, and terraces to be considered irrigable
alluvial valley floors. The stream deposits of Foidel and Middle
Creeks were found to consist entirely of alluvium with no terraces
or landslides. However, talus slopes and regolith deposits are
common in steep areas, such as on the flanks of Pinnacle Peak and
the slopes below the cliffs formed by the Twentymile and Trout
Creek Sandstone Formations. Much of the mapped flood plain of Fish
Creek in the general area is mapped as alluvial material, although
it is not known at specific locations if the flood plain is under-
lain by unconsolidated material or bedrock.
• At this stage of the reconnaisance investigation, four subject
areas within the general area were identified for consideration as
meeting the geanorphic criteria of alluvial valley floors. These
areas were 1) the floodplain of Fish Creek, 2) the upper reaches of
Foidel Creek proper in the northwest corner of Section 13, Township
4 North, Range 67 West, 3) a laa-lying area in the southeast corner
of Section 29, Township 4 North, Range 66 West, and 4) an area in
the eastern half of Section 7, Township 4 North, Range 86 West.
The first two subject areas sere field checked and confirmed as
meeting the surface landfonn criteria of alluvial valley floors.
The first subject area, the floodplain of Fish Creek, receives
runoff from Mine No. 2; however, the mining operations at Mine
r 1
U
785-9(c)
