Field blanks will be collected as a quality check on sample preparation
technique, external contamination, and the analytical method. One blank per sampling event will
be analyzed using the technique described in Appendix C. Field blanks will be labeled and Handled
as regular samples.
Equipment Rinsate Blanks
Equipment rinsate blanks will be collected to ensure that sampling equipment is clean and
that potential for cross~ontaminadon has been min;m;~~ by the equipment decontamination
procedures. Using the technique described in Appendix C, one equipment rinsate blank will be
collected for every suite of samples which were collected utilizing decontaminated equipment.
Duplicates
Duplicate samples will be collected and submitted for laboratory analysis to allow a
determination of natural sample variance, consistency of field and lab techniques, and analytical
precision. One blank duplicate sample will be collected for every suite of samples using the
technique described in Appendix C. The duplicates will be labeled and handled as regulaz saanples.
6.5.1 Quality Control Checks-Laboratory
'ihe analytical laboratory analyzes QA1QC samples internally. Blanks aze run at least one
per sampling event. Matrix spiking is performed by the laboratory to measure recoveries ofanalytes
for comparison to the established accuracy objective. American Soda will request a QC repoart with
every analytical report received.
Matrix Spike Sam lames
A set of duplicate samples called matrix spike (MS)/matrix spike duplicates (MSD) samples
wi I I be analyzed by the laboratory using a minimum of one in every 30 samples collected as part of
the internal monitoring program, including blanks and duplicates.
