• EXCERPTS FROM THE LAW <br />(1) Exploration holes, drill or boreholes, wells, or other ex- <br />posed underground openings not completed in aquifers shall <br />be sealed by replacing cuttings in the hole and placing an <br />octo plug, spider plug, or other approved expanding plug 10 <br />feet below the ground surface. The hole shall be marked. <br />RESPONSE <br />Exploration holes, drill or boreholes, wells, or other exposed <br />underground openings not completed in aquifers shall be sealed <br />by replacing cuttings in the hole and placing an octo plug, <br />spider plug, ,or other approved expanding plug 10 feet below the <br />ground surface. The hole sha)_l~~be marked. <br /> <br />EXCERPTS FROM THE LAW ~~ <br />~ (2) Exploration holes, drill or boreholes, wells, or other <br />underground openings completed in aquifers shall be sealed <br />using an approved slurry, cement or other sealant by placing <br />the sealant in the hole from the bottom to within 10 feet of <br />the surface. Holes which have multiple aquifers or bedrock <br />aquifers not exhibiting artesian flow at the surface may be <br />sealed using.a solid cement plug extending 20 feet above and <br />below the water bearing zone. A surface plug shall be <br />placed in accordance with 4.07.3(1) and the hole shall be <br />marked. <br />n <br />9i <br />
