• RESPONSE <br />Exploration holes, drill or boreholes, wells, or other <br />underground openings completed in aquifers shall be sealed using <br />an approved slurry, cement or other sealant by placing the <br />sealant in the hole from the bottom to within 10 feet of the <br />surface. Holes which have multiple aquifers or bedrock aquifers <br />not exhibiting artesian flow at the surface may be sealed using <br />a solid cement plug extending 20 feet above and below the water <br />bearing zone. A surface plug shall be placed in accordance with <br />4.07.3(1) and the hole shall be marked. <br />EXCERPTS FROM THE LAW <br />(3) Proof of compliance. Within 60 days after abandoning a drill <br />hole, specific drilling program approved by the Division, or when <br />requested by the Division, the operator shall submit a report <br />detailing the following information: <br />(a) Location of the drill hole as spotted accurately on a _ <br />topographic map; <br />(b) Depth of drill hole; <br />(c) Surface elevation of drill hole; <br />(d) Intervals where water was encountered during drilling <br />activites; <br /> <br />
