zol
!• site: 5MF342 (Fig. 5).
site Type: Open lithic. _
Location: SW;NW;, Sec. 21, T5n, R92w; UTM Zone 13, E268,450m., N4 ,472,225m.
Description: 5MF342 is composed of a scatter of flakes, projectile point
fragments, and flake concentrations in a 40 by 60 m. area. The site is locat-
ed high on a northwest-trending ridge above an unnamed seasonal tributary
to Milk Creek. The elevation at the site is 7200 ft. (2,195 m.). Vegetation
surrounding the site consists of juniper, sagebrush, grasses, and wild onion.
Water is available on a seasonal basis in the unnamed drainage, 175 m. to the
south.
Artifactual materials and flakes were seen in several concentrations in
the junipers, and not evenly distributed in the more open areas. No perman-
~• eat features were observed. The site is undisturbed, but there is recent
trash nearby. SMF341 lies approximately 200 m. to the west.
Diagnostic artifacts: Biface fragment, Type ID; and projectile point frag-
ments, Type IA, IB.
evaluation: 5MF342 has no potential for yielding information important to
prehistoryand should not be nominated to the NRHP. The site requires no fur-
ther action.
